How Do I Highlight Text In Powerpoint For Mac

I did a screen grab from imdb (Internet Movie DataBase) off the Internet. It's currently in .png format.

Select what you want to copy. Click a single object, like a file, or highlight text if you want to copy that. To highlight text, place the cursor at the beginning of the text, then click and hold while you drag the cursor to the end of the text you need.

  • Okay, this is what I do: Select text on a web page. In a TextEdit or iText Express document (rich text, with formattted text already in the document), I press Command-V.; Text and black background appears and I don't know how to remove the background.
  • Start by selecting some text, then use Format>Borders and Shading>Shading and select the color to apply. Then, with the 'highlighted' sample text still selected, click on Format Painter (looks like a paintbrush on the row below the menu and above the ribbon). Click and drag the cursor over text to apply your faux highlighting.

I want to highlight part of the text in the text in this picture as if I were using a yellow highlighter marker. I've tried everything I can think of but so far no dice.

It seems that the thing to do is to choose Tools > Mark Up, but Mark Up is grayed out.

I know this is possible because a guy I work with does it all the time. But it's too late to call him, and he's fairly irrascible anyway. And I know I did it once a while ago.
